It’s hard to believe that it has been 24 years since the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Pennsylvania disasters of 2001. WTB formed shortly after that when Betsy Wiggins, having been in a discussion about “what can we do” at University United Methodist Church, called the masjid and asked if the Muslim women needed escorts to go to the grocery store or run errands. She met Danya Wellmon over coffee and they talked for hours. They decided to each invite 10 friends and meet again at Betsy’s home. And that was the start of WTB.
Through the years WTB helped build a school in Pakistan, educated hundreds of women in monthly programs about faith, did service projects together, gathered for lunch and made deep friendships across religious lines.
