2 Seniors Receive Interfaith Awards


WTB was honored to present two Interfaith Achievement Awards this June. The awards went to young women graduating this spring from an an Onondaga County high school who has demonstrated her commitment to building bridges of understanding across diversity and plans to continue her education in a certificate program, trade school or college program. Each awardee receives a one-time, $1,000 scholarship.

This year we recognized two exceptional young women whose
commitment to promoting understanding and acceptance among people of diverse cultures and leadership in fostering positive interactions has enriched their schools and larger communities.

Amelia Leslie-Fox of Nottingham High School. Through her activities in Girl Scouts, church youth group, Nottingham Multicultural Festival, and Nottingham Performing Arts Club, Mia has strived to ”support my school community and support my peers.” She will attend LeMoyne College.

Brooke Kirkpatrick of East Syracuse Minoa High School. A multi-sport athlete, All-County musician, and student leader, Brooke has used her talents to “create and spread a welcoming attitude in my community.” She will attend Northeastern University to study Mechanical
Engineering.
