Envisioning the Future of WTB

In spite of a massive traffic jam on Route 481, about 15 women made it to the CNY RISE Center to talk about WTB’s goals for the future and ways to implement these goals. Five ladies attended the meeting via Zoom. Thank you to each person who shared your ideas!

After a lovely potluck of salads, tiny sandwiches and fruit, we gathered in a semicircle to consider two questions: What do we want to see happening going foreword? What do we need to do to make this happen? Each person spoke to each question for two to three minutes. Danya Wellmon led the discussion as Gay Montague recorded the comments.

WTB is at an inflection point—we need new ideas, new ways to reach out to the community, more members and younger women to become involved. We all agreed that WTB’s mission of bringing women together across religions/faiths/cultures by building relationships is as important or more important than it was when WTB was formed after the 9/11 attacks. We are all excited about the prospects for continuing our mission and serving our community in new and meaningful ways.

Danya Wellmon and Lorraine Markley will chair a group to continue this discussion and formulate a plan. We would love to have you be part of this group—whether or not you have been active in WTB up to this point; whether or not you were able to attend the meeting June 3. Please consider joining in this process— we look forward to new ideas and fresh perspectives! Email WTB at wtbcny@gmail.com and we will contact you.
