WTB Learned about Eastern Farmworkers on October 22

WTB gathered on October 22 to hear stories of farm workers affiliated with the Eastern Farm Workers Association (EFWA). We learned that they face long hours and poor working conditions in the harvest fields and dairy barns. Some lack health care. Some are even exploited by their employers.

The speakers explained that farm workers get no government support. While they are low paid, they bring us reasonably-priced fresh food and dairy products.

WTB members and guests brought bags of staple goods and other foodstuffs that will be placed in holiday gift baskets for the workers.

The workers told stories about the life of farm workers and their families.
