Reaching Across Differences

The meeting opened with a simple moment of silence commemorating September 11, 2001 and candle lighting facilitated by Sherry Chayat. Heads of the Program Committee, Service Committee, Finance Committee, Public Relations Committee, and Outreach Committee offered reports. The WTB membership passed unanimously the Constitution, with many thanks offered to Mary Lou Koenig and Ann Eppinger Port for drafting it.

Concerns were voiced about national issues, including banning assault weapons, encouraging women to vote, advocating for abortion rights, and rescinding sanctions. Locally, women were urged to pray for Muslims facing questioning in a court case.

Initiatives promoting interfaith understanding were announced, including speakers at the Religion and Society Program at Syracuse University and a course on World Religions at the Oasis Center.
