Many faith traditions celebrate a holiday in December and most have a time of sharing, merriment and good food. So it makes sense that WTB gathers for a Festival of Sharing on Wednesday, December 11 at Jowonio School, 6-8 p.m.. Bring a dish from your holiday tradition and enjoy music, dance and storytelling.
One interfaith calendar lists these holy days:
December 8 – Bodhi Day, when Budda is believed to have attained enlightenment.
12/21 to 1/1 – Yule, when Pagans and Wicans celebrate the winter solstice.
12/25 – The Christian celebration of Christmas, the day commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.
12/26-1/1 – Kwanzaa, a time to focus on seven principles, Nguzo Saba.
12/25 – 1/2 – Jews celebrate a festival of lights, Hanukkah, remembering the time in the second century BC when the Jews were able to reclaim their homeland and rededicate the Temple.
