{"id":11383,"date":"2026-08-19T17:15:26","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T21:15:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wtb.org\/?p=11383"},"modified":"2026-08-24T21:12:40","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T01:12:40","slug":"book-club-to-learn-african-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wtb.org\/?p=11383","title":{"rendered":"Book Club To Learn African History"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Journalist Zeinab Badawi has written a sweeping survey of history of Africa, <em>An African History of Africa: From the Dawn of Humanity to Independence.<\/em> &nbsp;But this one is different from other histories because Badawi tells it from an African perspective. She interviewed dozens of Africans in writing this book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most of the other books on African history are told from a traditional Western perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Badawi came out of her work on the BBC TV documentary series <em>\u201cThe History of Africa<\/em>\u201d and visited more than 30 countries, interviewing local historians, anthropologist, storytellers and archaeologists.
