It&#8217;s a novel that tracks several generations and explores working class Koreans seeking fairness during the time of Japanese colonial rule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The book was written for a Korean audience familiar with the geography and Korean naming systems. Jennifer Roberts Crittenden and those who have started reading the book give these suggestions :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Read the Afterword first<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Look online for a summary of the book. You can find <a href=\"https:\/\/thebookerprizes.com\/the-booker-library\/features\/reading-guide-mater-2-10-by-hwang-sok-yong\">one example here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Make notes about the generations of family names. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Use ChatGPT or another AI service and get a map of the Korean penninsula including railroads, rivers and cities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Book Club meets online via Zoom and will discuss this <strong>Monday night, July 13 at 7:30  <\/strong>.
